Cebu Pacific Remains Committed to Nationwide Covid-19 Vaccine Delivery

CEB has airlifted vaccines to 31 provinces since 2021, helping protect millions of Filipino lives

Despite a return to normalcy in many aspects of our daily lives, the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic has yet to be fully won. As a recent article in the respected British medical journal The Lancet asserted, “Rather than hoping for the end, letting our guard down, and thinking that the problem is somewhere else, everyone needs to remain alert.”

Doing its part to bring an end to the pandemic, Cebu Pacific, the Philippines’ leading airline, remains fully committed to helping the national government achieve its vaccination targets.

“We continue to support our country’s continuous fight against Covid-19. We are one with the government in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of vaccine doses across our domestic network as we all welcome the new year and adjust our lives to the new normal,” said Alex Reyes, Chief Strategy Officer at Cebu Pacific.

Since early 2021, when the Philippine Government approved the National Deployment and Vaccination Plan for Covid-19 vaccines, Cebu Pacific has been an active and reliable partipant in the Covid-19 vaccine roll-out and will remain so in the future.

To date, the airline has airlifted more than 80 million vaccine doses across the country. Last year alone, Cebu Pacific transported over 21 million doses, from January to December 19, 2022.

Now that more than 73.8 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated, a greater focus is now being directed at ensuring the safe yet efficient distribution of the follow-up vaccine booster shots. As of January 15, 2023, only 21.24 million Filipinos have received their booster shots, underscoring the need for the private sector's continued support of the Government's anti-Covid efforts.

Since the airline’s vaccine delivery efforts began, the life-saving vaccines have been distributed to 31 provinces, namely: Bacolod, Basilan, Boracay, Bohol, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cauayan, Cebu, Coron, Cotabato, Davao, Dipolog, Dumaguete, General Santos, Iloilo, Jolo, Kalibo, Legazpi, Masbate, Naga, Ozamiz, Pagadian, Puerto Princesa, Roxas, San Jose, Siargao, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, Tawi-Tawi, Virac, and Zamboanga.

Legazpi has received the highest number of vaccine shipments with four million vaccine doses to date, followed by Cagayan de Oro, Tacloban, Cotabato, and Zamboanga.

All vaccines were subjected to the most stringent delivery procedures, such as being stored in containers adhering to the prescribed temperature limit, to guarantee potency and efficacy until their arrival at the designated destinations.

The airline has attained a 100% vaccination rate for its active flying crew through the COVID Protect employee vaccination program of the Gokongwei Group and partnerships with various local government units in the country. In addition, about 98% of the active flying crew have received their booster shots to ensure the continued safety of employees and passengers.
