“Start the good life” goes the tagline of Robinsons Homes and recently, two of its communities started their journey towards a greener, more sustainable future.
As Robinsons Homes, one of the four residential brands of property developer Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC), marked its 25th anniversary, it brought its long-running CSR program “Our Roots, Our Homes: Planting Trees for a Greener Philippines” to two of its communities—Brighton Bacolod in Negros Occidental and Brighton Puerto Princesa in Palawan. The tree-planting initiative took place separately at these developments on June 1, 2019, and on July 27, 2019, respectively.

In Brighton Bacolod, a 22-hectare contemporary Mediterranean development in “the City of Smiles,” the activity brought about the participation not only of Robinsons Homes’ employees, sales partners, and future residents, but it also included representatives from other companies under the JG Summit Holdings umbrella, namely Cebu Pacific, Go Hotels, Robinsons Bank, Robinsons Malls, and URC SONEDCO. Together, they planted African talisay (Terminalia mantaly) seedlings. An evergreen tree, African talisay can grow from 10 to 20 meters in height and is used commonly in reforestation projects. When used in communities, its wide branches provide good shade for streets.

Meanwhile, the activity in Brighton Puerto Princesa, a 13-hectare Asian tropical enclave overlooking Honda Bay, saw participation from Robinsons Homes’ other sister companies, including Robinsons Retail Holdings (Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Supermarket, Handyman Do it Best, and Savers Appliances), Go Hotels, Robinsons Bank, and Robinsons Malls. In Palawan, participants planted tabebuia seedlings. When the ornamental trees mature, they produce beautiful flowers said to rival the famous cherry blossoms of Japan.

Now on its 7th year, “Our Roots, Our Homes: Planting Trees for a Greener Philippines” not only brings greater awareness for the need to care for our environment, but it also displays Robinsons Homes’ commitment to creating eco-friendly neighborhoods across the nation and providing their residents with a greener and more sustainable lifestyle.
