Calling All BPOs: Cybergate Galleria Cebu Is Now PEZA Accredited

In the Philippine office market, the outsourcing sector has been a consistent driver of growth, occupying an average of 450,000 square meters annually between 2016 to 2019. Despite the overall economic slowdown due to the pandemic, the Information Technology and Business Process Management industry has managed to increase its share of the country’s office market. Since March 2020, the IT-BPM industry’s total office space across the Philippines has reached 515,000 square meters, or 37% of the market.

According to real estate services and investment management firm Colliers Philippines, IT-BPM office transactions across the Philippines from the second half of 2020 to the first half of 2021 saw growth of 38%, up by 28,000 square meters. Colliers reports that this growth will continue as vaccination rates pick up and confidence in returning to the office increases.

Interestingly, Colliers observed that 85% of all IT-BPM office transactions during the first half of 2021 were in special economic zones designated by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority. Jericho Go, Robinsons Land Corporation Senior Vice President and Office Buildings General Manager, opines that this trend is set to continue. “We anticipate that locating in PEZA ecozones will still be a top consideration for the IT-BPM sector due to the agency’s professionalism and one-stop-shop nature,” said Go.
