Pagadian City residents will soon have a new favorite destination for their shopping, dining, and leisure activities, as Robinsons Malls recently broke ground for a new lifestyle mall rising in Zamboanga del Sur’s capital. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 19, 2021, and was attended by key local government officials and executives from Robinsons Land Corporation.

Robinsons Malls recently broke ground on its 56th mall. Attending the ceremony in Pagadian City were (from left) Engr. Nino Mendrado S. Canusa (project director of Riezl Landcare and Construction), Hon. Sam Tyra F. Co (first councilor of Pagadian City), Danilo F. Camat (Robinsons Land regional operations manager for Mindanao), Hon. Samuel S. Co (mayor of Pagadian City), Engr. Marie Sanita S. Fuertes (OIC building official of Pagadian City), and Engr. Oliver R. Saladino (construction manager of MCK Perez Development & Consultancy Corp).

Scheduled to open by July 2023, Robinsons Place Pagadian will be at the forefront of commercial and social life in the area, as it is strategically located near the city’s Capitol and famous landmarks including Plaza Luz and the Legislative Building. Its central location on F.S. Pajares Avenue, one of the city's main thoroughfares, is sure to attract local entrepreneurs and businesses aiming to capitalize on the city’s growing consumer base and its booming economy.

The mall will have a gross floor area of approximately 36,000 square meters, and will host an exciting mix of local and international retail shops, an enticing array of fine and casual dining options, and other amenities guaranteed to enhance the shopping and lifestyle experience of Pagadianons. Robinsons Place Pagadian’s main attractions will include a spacious food hall, Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Movieworld, and Robinsons Department Store.

Adhering to a Robinsons Malls tradition, the new mall’s architectural design borrows elements from the local culture. Once completed, the structure will be a sight to behold, as it takes inspiration from the geometric shapes and colors of the vinta, a type of outrigger boat traditionally used by the people of Mindanao as a fishing vessel, cargo ship, or houseboat. The mall’s eye-catching and symmetrical facade will showcase playful and colorful imagery that mirrors Mindanao’s instantly recognizable vessels.

Known as the “Little Hong Kong of the South” for its mountainous and picturesque terrain, the charming capital of Zamboanga del Sur will soon have in Robinsons Place Pagadian a new fascinating landmark that the locals can be immensely proud of and call their own.
