Robinsons Bank was honored to be among the winners at the Philippine Best Employer Brand Awards 2020. The financial services arm of the JG Summit conglomerate was recognized for effectively attracting, retaining, and developing talent, complemented by other factors essential to creating a good working environment.

The annual Philippines Best Employer Brand Awards is organized by the Employer Branding Institute, a global network of senior HR leaders across 36 countries who forward the sharing of best HR practices and contribute to the development of talent management, development, and innovation.

Winning organizations are evaluated on various criteria, including the ability to translate and combine vision with action for HR strategy, the cultivation of competencies to build a future-ready organization, having a diversified culture, maintaining healthy levels of employee engagement, and providing attractive benefits and equal opportunities for all.

Laarni V. Ona, First Vice President and Head of RBank’s Human Resource Management Group, accepted the award at a virtual ceremony held on October 10, 2020, alongside other organizations that have likewise distinguished themselves as employers of choice.

“It is with pride and joy that we accept the award for Best Employer Brand. On behalf of our president, Mr. Elfren Antonio S. Sarte, and our chairman, Mr. Lance Y. Gokongwei, we thank World HRD Congress and Employer Branding Institute for recognizing our endeavors to engage, develop, and nurture our people amidst the pandemic, and still give back to the community we co-exist with. This is truly inspiring. To all Robinsons Bankers, this is for you,” said Ona as the award was presented.

Sarte, RBank’s president, acknowledged the integral role employees have in the bank’s growth “Every employee is vital to our organization. The momentum that the bank has gained is born from every RBanker’s efforts,” he said. “That's why we see to it that they are also provided with their needs from ensuring a work-life balance to offering development programs. After all, a good employee experience also leads to a great customer experience.”

During the recent celebration of the bank’s 23rd anniversary on December 14, Lance Y. Gokongwei, RBank’s chairman, expressed further gratitude and appreciation for the bank’s workforce. “Your unrelenting commitment to serve and your persistence to innovate and come out with something better, are our core values put to heart,” said Gokongwei, crediting RBank’s transformation into a “small giant” to the hard work and dedication of the bank’s loyal employees. He added, “Amid all the unfortunate events that we have braved through, we continued to rise and let our resilient mindset guide us into overcoming each obstacle thrown towards us.”

The unwavering efforts of RBank’s employees have contributed greatly to the bank’s exceptional performance even during this uncertain business climate. As of the second quarter of 2020, the bank’s assets have expanded to P135 billion, more than double from 2015’s P58 billion. In terms of the banks industry ranking, it has improved by four notches since 2015, climbing from 22nd to 18th in 2020.
