Among the 12 cadets, three completed the FTA program with flying colors. Christian Andrew Esguerra, a magna cum laude Mechanical Engineering graduate from University of the Philippines-Diliman, was awarded Best in Ground School; David Jonathan Francisco, an Avionics Technology graduate from PATTS College of Aeronautics, was Best in Flying; and Ferdyn Rañosa, a cum laude Mechanical Engineering graduate from PATTS College of Aeronautics, was named Top Cadet.

"You can't help but be proud to be a graduate of the Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilot Program," shares Esguerra. "The most memorable part for me was my first solo (navigation) where we were made to navigate solely by map and by looking outside, all while managing the aircraft."

The Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilot Program aims to enable aspiring Filipinos who wish to become commercial pilots. It is a "study now, pay later, zero-interest" training program wherein Cebu Pacific shoulders the entire cost of the pilot training and guarantees employment to cadet pilots who successfully complete the training.

The program entails 52 weeks of integrated flight training, theory, and education at FTA in Adelaide, Australia—one of the best aviation schools in the region. Cadets also undergo an additional four weeks of training to obtain a Pilot’s License under the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.

To date, there are five batches comprised of 71 Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilots currently at FTA.

Coinciding with the homecoming of Batch 2 is the search for a new batch of Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilots.
