JG Summit Holdings was recently recognized for its initiatives to create an agile, flexible, and productive work environment by winning the Best in Future of Work award at the first-ever IDC Future Enterprise Awards (Philippines).

The announcement was made online on October 7, 2021, during the IDC ASEAN DX (Digital Transformation) Summit. The IDC Future Enterprise Awards are presented by International Data Corporation, a global market intelligence and advisory services provider.

Representatives from JG Summit’s Employee Experience and Engagement team delivered brief messages upon winning the Best in Future of Work category, which recognizes an organization “that is able to rethink the way work gets done,” according to IDC.

Accepting the award, Marco Padernal, JG Summit Director for Employee Experience and Engagement, said, “This recognition is a testament to how we at JG Summit are living our company purpose of having an unrelenting commitment to provide our customers with better choices, creating shared success with our stakeholders. Our employees, who are our internal customers, are very important to us. To be truly customer-centric, we use listening tools, like Qualtrics [Remote Work Pulse], SAP's employee experience feedback platform, to better understand their needs and pain points.”

Using Qualtrics, JG Summit was able to conduct a survey among its employees across the Philippines. Through the platform, the conglomerate created QR codes so that its frontliners could take the survey on their mobile phones. More importantly, the feedback gathered through the survey was interpreted and analyzed quickly yet comprehensively by using Qualtrics. Armed with this valuable new data, the Employee Experience team was able to turn insight to action immediately, addressing the service requests or information needs of the conglomerate’s workforce.

Other tech innovations and software programs employed by JG Summit’s Employee Experience team include the development of an employee service portal powered by ServiceNow, and digital collaboration tools from Microsoft and Darwinbox that enabled JG Summit’s employees to become more engaged and productive.

According to Padernal, the deployment of the new Employee Service Portal was especially fruitful. Billed as a one-stop-shop to provide remote access to HR services, it “earned for us a 90% employee satisfaction rating.”

In the second part of their winner’s message, JG Summit Enterprise Architect Donelle Gan said, “COVID-19 forced us into adopting new ways of working. Foremost of which is to be more collaborative. By working as a cross-functional team and utilizing design-thinking processes, we were able to come up with more effective and more productive ways of implementing our business processes. This is further enabled by technology, to lock in the process gains and scale quickly across our business units. We also strengthened our operational discipline to ensure a consistent positive experience for our employees. We will continue to evolve the ways that we engage and collaborate with our internal customers, to provide them with the best employee experience.”

Evolving from the IDC Digital Transformation Awards, which were first presented in 2017, the new IDC Future Enterprise Awards recognize “new benchmarks for what it takes to lead in the Next Normal, and how organizations must define their X-factor in the new digital economy.”

In deciding the winner for the Best in Future of Work category, IDC focused on three criteria: the ability to enable the new digital worker; the ability to reskill and educate current workers, and bring new skills and new workers; and the ability to create a work environment that is intelligent and dynamic, connected and secure, and independent of a physical place or specific time of day.

JG Summit Holdings will now compete against other country winners in the same category for the regional-level awards at the IDC Asia/Pacific Digital Transformation Summit and Future Enterprise Awards 2021, taking place on October 27 and 28.
