As the world battles the coronavirus pandemic, many citizens have been compelled to stay at home to flatten the curve. There are, however, more than a few who have chosen to remain at their places of work to be of service to those who need it.

Embodying the meaning of true hospitality, the operations teams of Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria and Holiday Inn Manila Galleria are at the forefront as both hotels remain operational, acting as a home mostly for guests working at basic and essential establishments during the enhanced community quarantine.

Robinsons Land Corporation, the real estate arm of JG Summit, is the property owner of Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria Hotel and Holiday Inn Manila Galleria. Both hotel brands are under InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (IHG), one of the world's leading hotel companies.

While the hotels’ dining outlets have temporary ceased operations, the Food & Beverage and culinary teams work day and night to deliver nutritious and delicious packed meals to their guests. Driven by his strong desire to help and be with his F&B team, Brian Intal decided to stay at the hotel even though he sorely misses his family, especially his one-year-old daughter. Brian has not been home since the crisis started.

One of the hotels’ Duty Engineers, Zaldy Morales, recently welcomed a new member to his family when his wife gave birth to a healthy baby girl on March 28. In spite of this, he immediately went back to the hotel understanding the importance of his department’s role. As further proof of his commitment, he walked every day for almost two hours to Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria from his home in Cainta, Rizal, during the initial stages of the lockdown.

Since the ECQ period began, the Housekeeping team headed by Angelita Villarico and Security team headed by Marlon Aguimbag have been working round-the-clock to maintain the overall safety and cleanliness of the hotel. For the guests’ wellbeing, they ensure that the intensified disinfection of the hotel strictly adheres to guidelines issued by the Department of Health. The Security team also provided relief goods to their team members who are unable to report to work.

General Manager Barun Jolly expressed his gratitude and admiration to the team saying, “To our true heroes, we salute your spirit, commitment, and perseverance. You will make us come out stronger. Thank you for all that you are doing.”

In solidarity to all who are undergoing challenges during this period, select guestrooms of Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria and Holiday Inn Manila Galleria were lit up at night to form a heart shape on their respective facades. This “Lights of Love” campaign was initiated by InterContinental Hotels Group to showcase love, support, and positivity to all the frontliners, likewise an ode to the aforementioned hotel heroes.
