GBF and Partners Bring Digital Learning to Surigao del Norte Schools

TV donation is paired with GBF Class Builder resources to bring tech-enabled instruction to classrooms

The Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF), together with Shang Properties and Kerry Group Philippines Foundation, donated 74 55-inch television sets for public schools under the Schools Division Office of Surigao del Norte, giving teachers more tools to bring digital learning resources into the classroom.

The donation supports the wider use of GBF Class Builder, the foundation’s teacher-support platform for educators. The platform provides instructional materials aligned with the Department of Education (DepEd) curriculum, along with coaching strategies and professional development opportunities. Teachers can also access downloadable lesson materials, including PowerPoint presentations, worksheets, and other classroom-ready resources that can be shown through the donated television sets.

By equipping classrooms with larger digital screens, the initiative helps make lessons more visual, interactive, and accessible. The widescreen displays can support day-to-day instruction, especially in subjects where presentations, illustrations, and structured learning aids can help students follow lessons more clearly.

The donation of TVs is part of GBF Juan Community for Education, a program that brings together schools, partner organizations, and volunteers to support communities through education-centered initiatives. By pairing classroom equipment with teacher resources, GBF helps create learning environments where educators are better supported and students can participate more actively in class.

The public schools receiving the television sets are Camboayon Elementary School, Cagtina-e Elementary School, Fabio Elementary School, Lower Libas Elementary School, San Antonio Elementary School, San Isidro Elementary School (Mainit), San Isidro Elementary School (Tubod), Sapa Elementary School, Suyoc Elementary School, Tagbayani Elementary School, Villaflor Elementary School, and Villafranca Elementary School.

The Surigao del Norte donation builds on earlier GBF efforts to support technology-enabled classrooms in public schools. In 2025, GBF, Shang Properties, and Kerry Group Philippines Foundation donated 110 55-inch smart TVs to seven public schools under the Schools Division Office of Caloocan City, helping teachers use GBF Class Builder for more dynamic classroom instruction.

Through programs such as GBF Juan Community for Education and GBF Class Builder, the foundation continues to advance its mission of expanding access to quality education and strengthening support for Filipino teachers. The Surigao del Norte donation reflects this mission in action, pairing classroom equipment with practical, ready-to-use resources that help teachers deliver more engaging lessons and give learners more opportunities to participate, understand, and thrive.
