Goodday Friz, a new carbonated cultured milk drink developed through the partnership of Universal Robina Corporation (URC) and Asahi Beverages, had a remarkable debut in the Philippines by setting a Guinness World Record for the Largest Carbonated Beverage Party, with 766 participants.
Held on July 30, 2025, at The Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan in Bridgetowne, Quezon City, the launch event—titled “Making Friztory”—gathered hundreds of participants in a simultaneous toast that officially earned the world record recognition.
The event was attended by key industry leaders, including Lance Gokongwei, President and CEO of JG Summit Holdings, Inc. and URC Chairman, and Erwin Selvarajah, CEO for Asahi’s South, Central, and Southeast Asia Group, highlighting the strategic importance of this joint initiative in shaping the future of the beverage category in the Philippines. The launch of the new drink strengthens the company’s position in the functional beverage segment, offering consumers a refreshing option that supports healthier lifestyles.
“Goodday Friz isn’t just your regular soda, it’s a new kind of refreshing and flavorful carbonated drink with a unique twist because it’s made with cultured milk,” said Oscar Villamora Jr., URC Managing Director for Beverages. “We want to offer an innovative drink, and what better way to launch our newest Goodday product than by celebrating with our consumers during this exciting history-making event.”
Available in Original and Orange, Goodday Friz is low in calories and developed with paraprobiotics to help support immunity, making it a more functional alternative to traditional soft drinks. Its introduction reflects URC and Asahi’s commitment to developing products that align with the evolving tastes and wellness goals of modern Filipino consumers.
“We’re thrilled to enter the Philippine soda space with a product that offers both fizz and function,” said Hemalatha Ragavan, CEO of Asahi Southeast Asia and Exports (Multi-Bev). “Goodday Friz delivers a refreshing taste with a health boost. It’s perfect for today’s on-the-go, wellness-minded consumers.”
Further energizing the launch was a live performance by rising P-pop group CLOUD 7, who were also introduced as Goodday’s first-ever brand ambassadors. Guests enjoyed interactive experiences such as themed digital games and immersive product sampling that showcased the fun and functional qualities of the new beverage.
With Goodday Friz now available nationwide, URC and Asahi continue to strengthen their portfolio with products that reflect global expertise, local relevance, and a shared vision of bringing innovative, better-for-you beverages to the market.
