GoTyme Bank, one of JG Summit Holdings’ strategic investments, is making it faster and more secure for Filipinos to open a bank account through its direct integration with the Philippine Statistics Authority’s National ID Authentication Services.
Formalized during a signing ceremony in Quezon City, the partnership integrates the PSA’s identity verification service directly into the GoTyme Bank app and its self-service kiosks. This simplifies the customer identity checks required when opening an account, making the process faster and easier to complete.

“With our direct integration into the National ID Authentication Services, GoTyme Bank can verify a customer’s identity against official government records in real time, making account opening simpler, faster and more secure,” said Shern Whey Teo, GoTyme Bank Chief Strategy Officer.
“What this means is the ability to open a GoTyme Bank account in as little as five minutes, with fewer steps. We are simplifying banking and making it easier for more Filipinos to access the financial services they need, unlocking the full potential of every Filipino,” he added.
Customers can complete the verification process using the QR code on their physical, digital or paper National ID, their National ID card number, or their name and date of birth. Because the bank is connected directly to the PSA system, they no longer need to scan or upload a physical identification document when opening an account.

PSA Assistant Secretary Rosalinda P. Bautista, Deputy National Statistician of the PhilSys Registry Office, said the integration shows how the National ID can support wider access to financial services.
“As one of the country’s leading digital banks, GoTyme has demonstrated how technology can make financial services more accessible and responsive to the needs of Filipinos,” Bautista said. “Through this integration, GoTyme strengthens its ability to provide a seamless and secure customer experience, while contributing to the broader goal of expanding financial inclusion.”
The partnership comes as GoTyme Bank surpasses 10 million customers, with the National ID already playing a significant role in account opening. In recent months, more than half of its monthly new account openings have used the National ID for identity verification.
Apart from making account opening more efficient, the National ID can help bring more Filipinos into the formal financial system.
“What PSA has built with the National ID isn’t just a government project. It is nation-building,” said Teo.
“Today, over 90 million Filipinos already hold the most powerful key to financial access this country has ever created through the National ID. Our responsibility is to make sure that key opens doors: to a bank account, to savings, to credit, and ultimately, to greater financial freedom.”
