JG Summit Petrochemicals Group Holds Medical Missions On V-Day

JGSPG spreads the love with back-to-back medical missions in Batangas City.

As a Valentine’s gift for around 600 residents of Barangays Simlong and Pinamucan Ibaba in Batangas City, JG Summit Petrochemicals Group sponsored free medical consultations and basic laboratory tests, which included blood tests, urinalysis, and X-rays, on February 14 and 15, 2019. Much to the delight of the patient-beneficiaries, medicines were also given for free at the back-to-back medical missions that form part of the company’s community development efforts.

To ensure that the most common illnesses in the barangays--such as hypertension, diabetes, cough and colds, and skin allergies--would be treated, barangay health workers helped JGSPG identify the chosen beneficiaries through a survey conducted as early as September 2018.

Pharmacists distribute free medicines to patients as prescribed by doctors during the medical mission.

A mobile clinic staffed by doctors and nurses from the Department of Health was deployed in the barangays. Each barangay also received blood pressure-monitoring equipment, thermometers, medicine, and medical supplies.

Marilyn Como, a resident of Brgy. Simlong, was among those who lined up for the free medical check-up along with her children. She said the medical mission was of great help to the community, most especially to her family, who hardly have access to health care.

“Nagpapasalamat kami sa JG Summit sa medical mission na ito. Kasama ko mga anak ko nagpakonsulta sa doktor at nalaman namin kung ano ang dapat gawin at mga gamot na dapat inumin.”

Mission accomplished! Doctors and specialists tapped by JGSPG's Community Relations Team successfully held a back-to-back medical mission from February 14 to 15 in Barangays Simlong and Pinamucan Ibaba, Batangas City.

In turn, JGSPG said that it will continue to be proactive when it comes to the host communities’ health care.

Marino D. Agbayani, Senior Vice President-Government Affairs and Special Projects of JGSPG said, “The activity is one way of expressing love to the community by ensuring residents receive proper medical service. We hope that through these efforts, we would be able to give love in a more meaningful way.”
