RLC’s RLove & RRHI’s Southstar Drug Bring “R Gift of Health” to Local Communities

The RGOH medical missions aim to improve the health of up to 4,000 people this year

Since April of this year, RLove - Robinsons Land Foundation has successfully held several medical missions in partnership with Southstar Drug of Robinsons Retail Holdings to promote better health in various communities in the Philippines.

Dubbed R Gift of Health (RGOH), the ongoing medical missions help address the needs of communities that have limited or no access to healthcare services due to factors such as poverty, remoteness of location, natural disasters, or inadequate healthcare infrastructure. With the cooperation of various Local Government Units around the country, RLove and Southstar Drug have teamed up to provide free medical screenings and consultations.

Depending on the service area and availability, the medical packages may include blood pressure monitoring, lipid profiling, cholesterol screening, bone density screening, ECG testing, breast cancer and cervical screenings for women, and prostate exams for men.

Apart from getting free medical check-ups, beneficiaries are also entitled to free vitamins, supplements, and medicines as prescribed by the volunteer medical mission doctors.

The kick-off R Gift of Health event took place in April 2023 in Barangay San Miguel in Pasig City, providing a range of medical services to over 100 women and children from the community. Following this, RGOH medical missions have since taken place in Antipolo, Diliman Quezon City, Metro East Pasig, Malolos, Tagaytay, Naga, Manila, and Las Piñas City.

This August, additional events will be held in San Pedro (Laguna), Gapan (Nueva Ecija), Tahanang Walang Hagdanan (Cainta), and Sta. Rosa (Laguna).

To date, the program has reached approximately 1,800 individuals; it intends to serve up to 4,000 people in 2023. Volunteers participating in the program include doctors, nurses, and Robinsons Land employees.

Using the performance of this year’s RGOH events as a benchmark, RLove hopes to improve future medical missions by providing targeted programs, such as eye check-ups, dental missions, and children-focused activities, as needed or requested by the communities in need.

Robinsons Land’s RLove corporate social responsibility program was established in 2016 to organize various social welfare and advocacy projects through philanthropy, volunteerism, and partnerships. The program is dedicated to support people and initiatives to shape a brighter future in the communities and surrounding areas in which Robinsons Land operates. To achieve its goals, RLove’s programs, now overseen by the Robinsons Land Foundation, are focused on Disaster Response, Community Development, Health and Nutrition, Child Welfare and Education, Environmental Sustainability, and Communities and Our People.
