Robinsons Galleria Showcases Artwork by Grandchildren of National Artists

“Legacy: Beyond the Blood” featured Carlos Francisco, Ronna Manansala, and Macoy Coching

Robinsons Galleria, the flagship mall of Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC), has shown its full support for Filipino artists yet again as it hosted another art exhibition on its iconic premises. Titled “Legacy: Beyond the Blood,” the exhibit was launched at the Level 3, Veranda of Robinsons Galleria, and was on public display from June 1 to June 21.

To mark the grand opening of the exhibit, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held led by the President and CEO of RLC, Frederick D. Go, and Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) founder, Cecile Guidote-Alvarez. To show her appreciation, Alvarez gave an inspiring message to the artists for being a rich symbol of the inter-generational transmission of cultural advocacy and skills.

Three grandchildren of three National Artists for Visual Arts shared their artistry at this event—Carlos “Totong” Francisco, grandson of Carlos “Botong” Francisco; Ronna Manansala, granddaughter of Vicente Manansala; and Macoy Coching, grandson of Francisco Coching. These seasoned visual artists are continuing their grandfathers’ legacies through their own art and style. Being an artist is indeed in their blood, but they have each made their own mark in the industry by mastering their own particular technique and carving out their own identity.

Through their artworks, they shed light on the exhibit’s title. The greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s child and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one’s life, but rather a legacy of character and faith.

Robinsons Malls has always believed in the potential of Filipino artists. Through its regular exhibits, it paves the way towards greater awareness for the beauty and power of art.
