Robinsons Hotels & Resorts Sets Benchmark in Muslim-Friendly Hospitality

RHR earns DOT recognition for creating welcoming, culturally respectful stays for Muslim guests

Robinsons Hotels and Resorts (RHR) has secured Muslim-friendly certification from the Department of Tourism (DOT) for 22 properties across its portfolio, the most for any hotel group in the Philippines.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco awarded the certification in recognition of RHR’s portfolio-wide approach to inclusive hospitality. The certified properties span several hotel brands, including Grand Summit Hotel, Summit Hotels and Resorts, Go Hotels Plus, and Go Hotels, as well as its international brands, The Westin Manila and Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.

RHR’s journey toward Muslim-friendly certification began with Grand Summit Hotel General Santos, the first property in the group to receive the distinction. Its prayer room has been lauded by the DOT as one of the best in the country, subsequently serving as the blueprint for other hospitality establishments nationwide.

To support Muslim guests, RHR has implemented dedicated facilities and services, including prayer spaces and staff training designed to honor Muslim traditions and preferences.

These efforts build on the group’s recent recognitions, including being named the “Philippines’ Leading Hotel Group” at the World Travel Awards Asia and receiving the “Best Hospitality Developer” award at the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards.

"This certification is a testament to our deep respect for the Muslim community, which is an increasingly vital and vibrant part of our national tourism landscape,” said Barun Jolly, Senior Vice President and Business Unit General Manager of Robinsons Hotels and Resorts. He added that the initiative aligns the group’s hospitality practices with the DOT’s National Tourism Development Plan, supporting efforts to foster “a more diverse and globally accessible industry where every traveler, regardless of faith, feels truly at home."

Through this group-led certification initiative, RHR, the hospitality arm of Robinsons Land Corporation, reinforces its role in advancing a tourism landscape that is more inclusive and culturally aware for all visitors.
