Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) has earned another international distinction that affirms its leadership in Philippine hospitality. Two of its Cebu-based properties have been listed in the 2025 Michelin Guide for hotels, a breakthrough achievement welcomed by Barun Jolly, Senior Vice President and Business Unit General Manager of Robinsons Hotels and Resorts (RHR), the company’s dedicated hospitality division.
“We are so delighted to announce that two of our portfolio properties, the Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu and NUSTAR Hotel Cebu, have been listed in the distinguished Michelin Guide Philippines,” Jolly shared. “This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and Filipino hospitality.”
Built by Robinsons Land Corporation in partnership with Universal Hotels and Resorts, NUSTAR Hotel is the crown jewel of Cebu’s premier integrated resort, delivering six-star Filipino luxury through world-class design and exceptional service. IMAGE Robinsons Hotels and Resorts
With over 31 properties and more than 5,100 guest rooms across 20 cities and municipalities, RHR is the largest and most diversified hotel group in the Philippines.
The listing of RHR’s premium properties comes as the Michelin Guide expands its Philippine selection from six hotels in its 2024 debut to 13 in 2025—a clear indication of the country’s rising visibility among global travelers and the strengthening quality of its hospitality offerings.
The Michelin Guide's hotel selection is a global benchmark of excellence in hospitality, launched in 2024 to highlight hotels that offer exceptional stays, regardless of price point or size. Hotels are independently selected by Michelin inspectors based on five key criteria: architecture and interior design, quality of service, personality and character, value for money, and contribution to the local experience.
NUSTAR Hotel: Filipino Ultra-Luxury at Its Finest
Launched earlier this year at the world-class NUSTAR Integrated Resort complex, the NUSTAR Hotel boasts 223 refined rooms, commanding views of the Cebu Strait, and premium amenities designed to meet the expectations of the most discerning guests. It stands as the first ultra-luxury Filipino hotel brand, proudly representing the warmth and elegance of Filipino hospitality on the global stage.
“Our pioneering spirit drives us to create developments like NUSTAR Hotel—ultra-luxury, proudly Filipino, and designed to elevate the global perception of Philippine hospitality,” said Mybelle V. Aragon-GoBio, President and CEO of Robinsons Land Corporation.
She also emphasized the broader impact of hospitality on national development: “We view hospitality as both a driver of economic opportunity and a cultural platform, one that uplifts communities, generates livelihoods, and celebrates the richness of Filipino identity. Our strong presence in Cebu reflects our confidence in its enduring appeal as a tourism hub.”
Echoing the sentiments of RLC’s leadership, Roel Constantino, General Manager of NUSTAR Hotel and Fili Hotel noted: “We are truly honored with the addition of NUSTAR Hotel Cebu in the 2025 Hotel List of the prestigious Michelin Guide.” He also noted that the recognition confirms how “the level of luxury hospitality NUSTAR delivers aligns well with those of an elite collection of hotels in the world, a distinction that has long been dominated by international hotel brands.”
Dusit Thani Mactan: Tropical Serenity Meets Global Standards
Located on the scenic Mactan coastline, Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu merges Thai hospitality traditions with Filipino charm, offering a sanctuary of comfort, wellness, and leisure. Operated under a management agreement between Thailand-based Dusit International and Robinsons Hotels and Resorts, the property brings together global brand strength and local operational expertise. Its elegant seaside design and thoughtful guest experiences make it a standout among luxury resorts in the region.
“Of course, we are proud to be recognized as part of the prestigious Michelin Guide—a global symbol of excellence in hospitality,” said Laurent Betourne, General Manager of Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort. He described the selection as “both a humbling achievement and a proud contribution to solidifying the growing reputation of Mactan as a premium destination.”
Betourne also affirmed the resort’s commitment to delivering “personalized, authentic experiences, anchored in architectural excellence, individuality rooted in authenticity, and delivering consistent, extraordinary experiences at a compelling value.” He noted that their sustainability initiatives underscore the promise to offer not just quality accommodations but also a “responsible and future-forward hospitality experience.”
A Shared Vision for Tourism Excellence
Reflecting on the collaborative effort behind the global recognition, Jolly credited the team’s passion and consistency as essential to earning a place in the Michelin Guide. He said the achievement highlights both individual excellence and the shared commitment that defines Robinsons Hotels and Resorts.
He also acknowledged the trust and support of guests, partners, and communities, noting that their continued confidence inspires the team to keep raising the bar for Filipino hospitality.
As Robinsons Land continues to expand its hospitality portfolio, it remains deeply committed to supporting the broader tourism ecosystem—working hand in hand with industry partners, the government, and local communities to help build a more inclusive, vibrant, and globally competitive Philippines.
“This Michelin distinction is more than an award—it’s a defining step in our journey toward positioning Robinsons Hotels and Resorts as a world-class hospitality brand. We remain resolutely focused on delivering the warmth, quality, and authenticity that define Filipino hospitality,” concluded Jolly.
