Robinsons Retail’s Most Outstanding Suppliers & Vendors Get the “Green Light”

The Robinsons Trade Partner Awards recognize the role suppliers have in RRHI's operations

Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc., the retail arm of the Gokongwei Group, continuously strives to foster meaningful relationships with its people, customers, and partners. For Robinsons Retail’s Supermarket Segment, its success can be attributed in part to the robust partnerships with third-party suppliers that it has built over the years. Without them, filling store shelves with a diverse and high quality merchandise mix to consistently fill the needs of customers nationwide would be close to impossible.

Recognizing the crucial role that these suppliers and trade partners have in Robinsons Retail’s operations, its Supermarket Segment (composed of Robinsons Supermarket, The Marketplace, Shopwise, and Robinsons Easymart) and drugstore banner Southstar Drug host the annual Robinsons Trade Partner Awards.

Basing its overall theme on a popular survival drama series, the awards’ 12th edition, held online on March 2, 2022, paid tribute to third-party suppliers, vendors, and key account managers who have excelled despite the unpredictability and difficulties of the past year.

In costume as a character from the hit Netflix show, Stanley C. Co, Managing Director of Robinsons Retail's Supermarket Segment, provided the Robinsons Trade Partner Awards’ opening remarks. After dramatically removing his mask, Co expressed the company's gratitude to partners who “worked with us to deliver the best products and services to our customers. When the first year of the pandemic was about constant adaption to survive the pandemic, this time, we are more determined that we don’t only survive but thrive in the new normal.”

To achieve this, Robinsons Retail is taking measures to ensure that the company would be able to “withstand any circumstance” in the future. These include steps to improve its omni-channel presence, expand and strengthen its supply chain, make better use of data, manage costs, and improve efficiencies, among others.

Robina Gokongwei-Pe, Robinsons Retail’s President and CEO, graciously thanked the group’s partners and provided some inspirational words as well in her brief speech. “The pandemic may seem like Squid Game’s ‘red light, green light’ game – stop and go in terms of people’s mobility or government regulations. For our supermarket and drugstore segment, it has always been green light. We remained operational thanks to our frontliners and our partners,” she said.

After reiterating the group’s core strategies to grow and expand even in the face of multiple challenges, she added, “The pandemic may have changed how business is done, but it has not changed our commitment to delight the Filipino consumer. Here at RRHI, we will always be on the go. We will focus on the green light.”

The award ceremony followed, with event host Gretchen Ho announcing all the nominees and winners. Universal Robina Corporation, Abbott Nutrition International, Atkins Import & Export Resources, Unilever RFM Ice Cream, Monde Nissin Corporation, Sanitary Care Products Asia, and Unilab all displayed outstanding performance in terms of same store sales, fill rate, trade support, and account service, enabling them to emerge as this year's top awardees.

Congratulations to all the winners!
