URC Clinches Top Asian Workplace Honors with Exceptional HR Practices in 2023

By always putting people first, URC fosters a thriving, global corporate culture

Universal Robina Corporation (URC) continues to solidify its standing as a beacon of exemplary corporate culture, having recently earned five prestigious certifications that designate its business units in the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Myanmar as among the finest workplaces in Asia for 2023. These accolades underscore not only the company's commitment to excellence but also its dedication to fostering a workplace environment where empowered employees can flourish and unlock their full potential.

Irwin Lee, URC President and CEO, expressed his gratitude for the multiple distinctions bestowed on the company by saying, “We’re truly honored to be among the best workplaces in Asia. These consecutive recognitions and certifications for our different units are significant accomplishments for the organization, as they show that URC’s corporate culture fosters a flexible, nurturing work environment that lets talents and careers thrive.”

With the theme "Celebrate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion," the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia (Philippines) Awards 2023 had 205 entries, an 11% increase over the previous year. Here, the team from URC Philippines celebrates joining the prestigious list.

In the Philippines, URC was certified as a "Best Place to Work", securing the 5th spot among all participating organizations in the country and placing 18th in the Asia Pacific category. The certification was achieved after an extensive two-week employee survey that meticulously evaluated various facets of the work environment, including leadership, HR practices, and personal growth opportunities. Complementing this achievement, URC Philippines was among the honorees at the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Awards.

Organized each year by Business Media International (BMI), one of Asia’s leading business-to business media and event companies, the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Awards honors organizations that have been identified by their employees as one of the region’s employers of choice, placing the spotlight on companies with the best HR practices, high levels of employee engagement, and excellent workplace cultures.

URC Vietnam also secured a spot on HR Asia's prestigious list, further affirming the company's commitment to creating a workplace characterized by high levels of employee engagement and beneficial HR programs.

Having also been recognized by HR Asia, URC Malaysia underscored its dedication to prioritizing its workforce during the integration of two businesses, following the company's acquisition of the Munchy's biscuit brand. This acknowledgment from HR Asia reinforces the organization's commitment to harnessing the synergies that arise from combining the strengths of both entities.

URC Indonesia, not to be outdone, was once again certified as a "Great Place to Work" based on comprehensive employee feedback gathered through surveys. The Indonesian subsidiary earned consistent praise for enhancing its company culture and ensuring an exceptional environment for its employees, reflecting URC's dedication to prioritizing the satisfaction and well-being of its workforce.

Rounding out URC's major HR accomplishments for the year, URC Myanmar was honored as one of the Best Companies to Work in Myanmar for 2023. The award acknowledges organizations that excel in fostering exceptional employee satisfaction and experiences aimed at attracting and retaining top talent.

"In a landscape where a company's success is inextricably linked to the satisfaction and well-being of its workforce, URC stands tall, proving that a people-centric philosophy forms the bedrock of a global, world-class enterprise," remarked Lee.

These accolades affirm URC's commitment to maintaining a people-centric approach, emphasizing that exceptional HR practices are not just beneficial for employees but also instrumental in the company's success as a global, world-class enterprise.
