Cebu Pacific (CEB) is expanding its efforts to make ground operations more sustainable, becoming the first airline to use bridge-mounted equipment (BME) at Clark International Airport (CRK).
Since October 2026, the airline has been using BME installed by airport operator Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corporation (LIPAD). The system supplies electricity and cooled air directly to aircraft parked at the gate, reducing the need to run their jet fuel-powered auxiliary power units (APUs). This allows aircraft to consume less fuel while on the ground, helping lower carbon emissions and noise levels.
"Cebu Pacific fully supports Clark International Airport's 'APU Off' initiatives as part of our commitment to more sustainable operations. By reducing our reliance on onboard power generation while aircraft are parked, we can help lower fuel consumption and emissions. We are proud to be the first airline to use this airport facility at Clark," said Lei Apostol, CEB Vice President for Customer Service Operations.

LIPAD President and CEO Noel Manankil welcomed CEB's participation in the initiative, which forms part of the airport operator's efforts to improve the environmental performance of ground operations.
"The operation of our new bridge-mounted equipment is in line with CRK's commitment to more sustainable operations and helps our airline partners reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions," Manankil said.
CEB first adopted BME at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) in August 2024, becoming the first carrier to use the technology there as well. The airline has also introduced electric ground support equipment, ground power units, and air-cooling units at MCIA and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The expansion of these initiatives from Cebu to Clark demonstrates how CEB is working with airport partners to make its operations more sustainable. While much of the attention on greener aviation naturally focuses on what happens in the sky, the airline recognizes that progress can also begin on the ground, long before an aircraft takes flight.
