As the Philippines' leading carrier and a partner in nation-building, Cebu Pacific recognizes its responsibility towards supporting communities in need. Through a new agreement with SOS Children's Village Cebu, the airline continues to help Filipinos in myriad ways, this time by providing regular food donations for children and families under their care.
Cebu Pacific will be donating surplus pastries from its Mactan catering facility, with SOS Cebu staff collecting the donations for their food support programs. This partnership will supply approximately 100 to 300 pastries weekly to 106 children and young people enrolled in programs that provide education, family support, and holistic care.
“Supporting SOS Children’s Village Cebu is about more than giving food,” said Lei Apostol, Cebu Pacific Vice President for Customer Service Operations. “It’s about helping children thrive while promoting sustainable practices. Even small acts, like turning surplus food into opportunities, can make a real difference.”
The initiative is part of Cebu Pacific's corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to assist communities while reducing food waste. Since 2017, the airline has donated pastries to the Pangarap Foundation, an organization that uplifts underserved youth. In 2019, it became the first Southeast Asian airline to participate in UNICEF's global Change for Good Program, helping to provide proper nutrition in the first 1,000 days of life for children in need. In 2024, Cebu Pacific expanded its commitment by partnering with Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Philippines, formalizing a program to donate surplus food.
Achieving food security is one of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, making this feeding project a crucial part of Cebu Pacific's commitment not only to the Philippines, but to sustainability as well. For its sustainability efforts, the carrier has earned numerous accolades, including two recent wins at the 2025 ESGBusiness Awards.
Public service, however, remains the top goal in Cebu Pacific's sustainability and CSR programs. As the only local airline partner of SOS Children’s Village Cebu, the airline hopes to set an example for the aviation industry by showing how surplus food can be managed responsibly while also making a meaningful impact on society.
