Going Greener Each Day: Robinsons Malls Named a Global Recycling Hero of 2025

Robinsons Malls has earned international recognition as one of the winners of the 2025 Recycling Heroes Competition organized by the Global Recycling Foundation (GRF). The announcement was made during the celebration of Global Recycling Day on March 18, 2025.

The award acknowledged Robinsons Malls’ efforts to make sustainability a part of daily life through its "Everyday for a Greener Future" campaign. The program weaves eco-conscious practices into the everyday activities of Filipino consumers—whether shopping, dining, or enjoying entertainment—by encouraging habits that support environmental responsibility and address pressing issues such as waste management, climate change, and community stewardship.

At the heart of the campaign is a range of high-impact initiatives that make sustainable living more accessible and actionable. These include mall-wide waste management and recycling systems, the deployment of reverse vending machines (Renew-a-Bottle) and bins for e-waste and used chopsticks, and the rollout of educational and community engagement programs such as recycling markets, eco-art workshops, composting demonstrations, and sustainability fairs.

Robinsons Malls also works hand in hand with various public and private sector partners to expand its impact, including the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Department of Sanitation Quezon City (DSQC) through the BasuHero program, PLDT-Smart, and several local government units.

As part of the Commercial Centers Division of Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC), Robinsons Malls is proud to represent the Philippines on the global stage. It is one of only 20 winners selected by the Global Recycling Foundation, which leads Global Recycling Day each year on March 18 and promotes recycling as a key pillar of sustainability and climate action.

The foundation’s annual Recycling Heroes Competition honors individuals, schools, and organizations whose initiatives demonstrate creativity, measurable impact, and strong community engagement. Winning entries are featured across GRF’s global platforms throughout the year, highlighting efforts that advance a more circular and inclusive economy.

This year’s observance of Global Recycling Day focused on the importance of collective responsibility in preserving natural resources and tackling environmental challenges through innovation and collaboration—values that continue to shape Robinsons Malls’ long-term sustainability efforts.
