Robina Farms earns second AKF cage-free certification for eggs

The certification supports humane egg production and Robina-raised, Family-safe quality.

Robina Farms has earned its second cage-free eggs certification from the Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF), reinforcing its ongoing commitment to providing “Robina-raised, Family-safe” products to customers through humane egg production. Robina Farms is part of URC Agro-Industrial Commodities (URC-AIC), the unit that manages the company’s agricultural operations.

The latest certification covers Robina Farms’ RF18-House 3 in Bustos, Bulacan. This cage-free site has 10,000 heads and an average daily production of 8,500 eggs. It also accounts for 85% of Robina Farms’ cage-free egg stock population. The facility underwent multiple inspections for compliance with AKF’s cage-free standards, with the final inspection held on December 12, 2025.

Robina Farms previously received its first AKF cage-free certification for its Naic, Cavite farm (RF23) in 2025, highlighting the company’s steady progress in expanding certified cage-free systems across its operations.

“We are deeply honored to receive this NGO Cage-free Certification. This certification reflects the hard work of our team and our ongoing commitment to raising animals with care, respect and accountability,” said Lina Macailing, Farm Operations Head Manager.

Mary Jane Bernardo, Marketing Director of Robina Agri Partners, said the certification reinforces Robina Farms’ standing as a trusted producer—one that keeps pace with evolving consumer expectations and global best practices in animal welfare. She described AKF as a close partner in helping ensure the products Robina Farms brings to consumers meet the highest quality standards. “We are continuously fulfilling our purpose of delighting our consumers with good food choices,” she shared.

Mary Jane Bernardo, Marketing Director of Robina Agri Partners, said the certification reinforces Robina Farms’ standing as a trusted producer—one that keeps pace with evolving consumer expectations and global best practices in animal welfare.

The certification comes as demand for cage-free eggs continues to grow in the Philippines, with more consumers and food companies looking for options aligned with responsible production and animal welfare. AKF Program Director Heidi Caguioa emphasized that certified cage-free systems also help build trust. “It’s important that cage-free initiatives are not seen merely as regulatory milestones, but as trust-building measures. By highlighting certified cage-free systems, we help consumers make informed choices and encourage the industry to move beyond minimum compliance toward leadership in responsible production,” she said.

AKF’s certification process includes a comprehensive evaluation of housing systems, animal care practices, and farm management protocols. These standards align with international benchmarks and support the Philippine National Standards (PNS) for Cage-Free Egg Production, which AKF and the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) spearheaded in 2021.

Robina Farms officially received the certification during an awarding ceremony held on January 16, 2026, at the Idea Creation Center in Antipolo.

With this second certification, Robina Farms continues to strengthen its cage-free program, supporting animal welfare, sustainability, and consistent product quality while giving consumers more credible cage-free egg choices.
