Commercial Centers Division of RLC lauded for holistic approach to community service and sustainability

For its unwavering dedication to environmental conservation, Robinsons Malls was honored as the Sustainability Company of the Year at this year’s Asia CEO Awards.

Now on its 14th year, the Asia CEO Awards recognizes Philippine-based businesses and corporate executives who have attained notable achievements in various areas including service excellence, business leadership, entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability, among others. There were over 700 nominees across 15 categories this year, the most in Asia CEO Awards’ history. More than a thousand guests attended the glittering awards ceremony at the Manila Marriott Grand Ballroom on October 24, 2023.

Before its selection as the overall champion in the Sustainability category, Robinsons Malls was also named as one of the Asia CEO Awards’ Circle of Excellence awardees, joining 11 other Philippine companies that have achieved “important success at environmental progress and demonstrated leadership and commitment to sustainability.”

Receiving the Sustainability Company of the Year award attests to Robinson Malls' holistic approach to community service and sustainability. Beyond being a shopping, dining, and entertainment destination, Robinsons Malls sees itself as an integral part of the many communities it serves, and this is reflected in its impactful sustainability and CSR initiatives.

At the heart of Robinsons Malls' sustainability programs is its commitment to clean renewable energy sources, water conservation, recycling, and innovative green practices that are integrated into the design and operation of its malls. Robinsons Malls leads the country in solar power generation in malls, with 24 of its malls producing over 31 megawatts of solar energy each year, eliminating over 110,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions – equivalent to planting nearly 2 million trees.

In addition to energy-optimization measures, Robinsons Malls' other sustainability-oriented initiatives include wastewater management, solid waste management, and plastic collection and recycling. It further engages the community through various programs such as the Weekend Recycling Market and Save the Planet One Bottle at a Time, the installation of e-bike and EV-charging facilities, and by hosting “Locally Sourced” produce fairs that not only help the country’s hardworking farmers, but also make fresh, affordable, and eco-friendly options available to a wider spectrum of customers.

Determined to go further on the path toward a greener future, Robinsons Malls will continue to put sustainability at the top of its priorities for both existing and future developments. As a champion for sustainability, it is committed not just to amplify awareness on the environment but also to make sustainable living more accessible to Filipinos nationwide.
