This Feeding Program Helps Indigent Students Reach Their Full Potential

With Project Food for Thought, Robinsons Hotels and Resorts helps provide nourishment to poor students

With the varied corporate social responsibility programs of Robinsons Land Corporation, which include a greater push for sustainability, nationwide tree-planting initiatives, and book and school supply donation drives in its communities, among others, it’s no wonder the real estate company topped the Best Strategic CSR in the Philippines category in the 9th Annual Corporate Institutional Investor Poll of Alpha Southeast Asia Magazine.

You can add another CSR program to the company’s growing list, with Happy to Care for Our Community from its subsidiary, Robinsons Hotels and Resorts. Through this, RHR shows its commitment to giving back to the communities in which it operates, and share its service-oriented culture and spirit.

As part of this CSR program, RHR partnered with the Giving Hope Foundation for its Project Food for Thought, a feeding program for indigent public school students at Pineda Elementary School in Pineda, Pasig. Beneficiaries of the program are children who are undernourished or indigent students who go to school with no food or food allowance. The program currently provides nourishment for 300 children during the school week.

Studies have shown that what children eat affects their growth potential and their intellectual capacity, which will eventually affect their productivity as they reach adulthood. Through RHR’s partnership with the Giving Hope Foundation, it helps students develop and reach their full potential. As part of its contribution to Project Food for Thought, RHR employees and staff volunteer once a month to cook, serve nutritious meals, and positively impact children’s lives.

On September 23, 2019, RHR was able to donate a 62-cup rice cooker to the school.  “It was so memorable seeing the genuine smiles and giggles of the students and nanays when they opened the present,” said Lea Frias, RHR Human Resource Associate. This was made possible through the generous contributions and donations of the Robinsons Hotels and Associates in the “RHR-Rummage Sale for a Cause.”
