Geared towards innovation to fulfill the changing needs of its customers, Robinsons Bank has once again caught the eye of global industry experts. At the ABF Retail Banking Awards 2021 presented by Asian Banking & Finance magazine, two of Rbank’s groundbreaking innovations were in the spotlight: RBank Sign Up was named as the Service Innovation of the Year while the GO! Salary Loan Online was recognized as the Consumer Finance Product of the Year.

Elevating the Customer Experience

As the pandemic continues to loom over their daily lives, many Filipinos nowadays prefer to do most of their tasks online and from the safety of their homes. It’s why RBank came out with RBank Sign Up, an award-winning innovation that lets clients open a bank account online in just a matter of minutes.

Clients need only one ID and a mobile phone with an internet connection to get started. The customer’s bank account details can be received within minutes, and the best part is, there’s no need to go to the branch.

To date, more than 30,000 Filipinos have opened an account through RBank Sign Up, the first online bank account opening app to launch during the pandemic.

Apart from earning the Service Innovation of the Year accolade, RBank Sign Up’s other recent distinctions include receiving the Omni-Experience Innovator Award from the International Data Corporation, the Most Innovative Retail Banking Product 2020 from International Business Magazine, and the Most Innovative Digital Banking Product 2021 (Philippines) from World Economic Magazine.

Financial Flexibility within Reach

While the pandemic caused disruption in the lending business of several banks, RBank’s GO! Salary Loan Online program was able to resume its activities by mid-2020.

Its end-to-end digital process significantly improved the experience of the bank’s corporate partners and customers, as the average loan processing time was substantially reduced from 1 to 2 weeks to just 1 to 2 working days.

This innovation not only reduced man-hours and maximized productivity, it also reduced risk factors and brought about increased efficiency in the loan approval process. With digitization, RBank was able to partner with companies in previously out of reach areas in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Before its recent win at the Asian Banking & Finance Retail Banking Awards, RBank’s GO! Salary Loan Online was also named the Most Innovative Digital Transformation Initiative in the Philippines at the Global Economics Awards 2020.

Explaining some of the criteria behind this year’s ABF Retail Banking awards, Tim Charlton, publisher of the Singapore-based publication behind them said, "Financial institutions that didn’t back down from the challenge and have adapted amidst the crisis have proved to be on the top of the industry. Asian Banking & Finance awards aim to recognize these exceptional firms and challenge them to provide top-tier products and services to their clients as we continue to move forward into the new normal."
