As the real estate arm of JG Summit Holdings, Robinsons Land Corporation engages with the arts primarily through architectural forms on a daily basis. However, RLC has long been a champion of the visual arts as well, having supported numerous art exhibits and public installations at its Robinsons Malls around the country over the years.

At its flagship mall, Robinsons Galleria in Ortigas, RLC recently opened an exhibition space dedicated to showcasing Filipino ingenuity and creativity. Dubbed Artablado, its name comes from a combination of the words art and entablado, which means stage in Filipino. Located on the third level of the mall, Artablado’s opening exhibit featured the works of abstract expressionist painter Carlos “Totong” Francisco II, his first solo exhibition since 2011.

To encourage the development and promotion of emerging local artists, Robinsons Land Artablado is holding its first national art competition. According to RLC, among the painting competition’s goals are to illustrate the beauty of the Philippines, showcase the future of the arts, and promote Filipino culture. Open to Filipinos aged 18 years and above, the competition follows the theme “Create,” urging participants to let their imagination run free to “bring something to existence.”

There are two categories: representational and non-representational, both limited to works using acrylic or oil on canvas. As it is a painting competition, mixed media works are not allowed. Participants may submit one entry per category. The minimum size is 2 feet by 3 feet, and the maximum is 4 feet by 4 feet, excluding the frame.

First prize winners for both categories get P60,000 in cash, a solo exhibition at Robinsons Galleria Ortigas, an overnight stay at Summit Ridge Tagaytay, and a plaque. Second prize winners get P40,000 in cash, an overnight stay at Summit Chimes in Greenhills, and a plaque. Third prize winners get P20,000 in cash, an overnight stay at Summit Magnolia in Quezon City, and a plaque. Up to 22 finalists will be selected for both categories, all of whom will get P2,000 in cash.

The deadline for submission of artwork is on March 20, 2020. The winners will be announced during the Artablado grand launch on April 4, 2020. All winning entries will also be part of the 2020 Artablado traveling exhibition.
