More than two years after the siege of Marawi, many of the city’s residents are still struggling to get their lives back to normal. Staying aligned with the vision of its parent conglomerate, JG Summit Holdings, to make life better for every Filipino, Cebu Pacific harnessed its logistics capability to partner with the government in helping alleviate the plight of residents in Marawi.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development's Pabaon Packs are ready to be flown by Cebu Pacific for distribution to families affected by the conflict in Marawi City.

During the early days of the conflict that lasted five months, Cebu Pacific took part in the  #OgopMarawi Program (ogop is the Marawi word for help), shipping Family Relief Packs, humanitarian and disaster relief goods, and equipment used to provide safe drinking water to displaced families. The country’s leading airline also offered to fly soldiers wounded in the conflict from Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental to any of its domestic destinations.

This summer, Cebu Pacific helped the Department of Social Welfare and Development in transporting “Pabaon Packs,” or boxes of relief goods containing canned goods, sugar, salt, cooking oil and other essential items, from Manila to airports in Laguindingan and Davao. A total of 3,654 Pabaon Packs weighing a combined 29,232 kgs were distributed to more than 3,000 families affected by the armed conflict.
